PRESS RELEASE Subject: Multi-Agency Drill Contact: Deputy Coordinator Andrew Welsh pointoem@ptboro Release Date: September 8th, 2014 Release Time: 9:00 am FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE On Wednesday Evening September 3rd the Point Boro EMS conducted a dill to test its response and incorporated the Point Pleasant Office of Emergency Management and the United States Coast Guard The drill consisted of EMS members going to their station to do a team building exercise. During said drill the squad was dispatched to the Maxon Ave beach for a report of a fall victim. (Crew members were advised prior to responding out of the station it was a drill) Upon the squads arrival the initial crew found more then they expected. The drill had simulated a fisherman who had fallen off the Maxon Ave Beach Pier and fell into the rocks causing his fishing pole to impale him. The victim (an EMS Lieutenant) was in about 2 feet of water. The initial crew requested the US Coast Guard, additional man power from the squad and the Point Pleasant Fire Department Water Rescue Team (The Fire Department was simulated). At that time OEM was dispatched to assist with the coordination of the multiple agencies. OEM staff were dispatched and advised that it was a drill. OEM personal were unaware of the planned drill and it helped OEM Coordinators test response times of the responding OEM staff. The United States Coast Guard had representation on scene to assist and answer any questions following the drill. The drill was an overall success between all three agencies. The drill was planned by 2nd Lieutenant Carol Lynes of the Point Boro EMS in conjunction with Captain Travis Popiel and 1st Lieutenant Ron Nobile all with the Point Boro EMS.
