PRESS RELEASE EBOLA OUTBREAK UPDATES---October 28, 2014 DISCHARGED CASES • Total Survived and Released Patients = 781 NEW CASES • New Confirmed cases = 62 as follows: Kailahun = 0, Kenema = 1, Kono = 1 Bombali = 32, Kambia = 1, Koinadugu = 0, Port Loko = 17, Tonkolili = 6 Bo = 7, Bonthe = 0, Moyamba = 0, Pujehun = 0 Western Area Urban = 13, Western Area Rural = 13 CUMULATIVE CASES • Cumulative confirmed cases = 3,715 as follows: Kailahun = 551, Kenema = 481, Kono =39 Bombali = 529, Kambia = 31, Koinadugu = 13, Port Loko = 514, Tonkolili = 193 Bo = 174, Bonthe = 2, Moyamba = 93, Pujehun = 26 Western Area Urban = 595, Western Area Rural = 474 CUMULATIVE DEATHS • Total cumulative confirmed death is 1049 • Probable cases = 84 • Probable deaths = 213 • Suspected cases = 533 • Suspected deaths = 157 IMPORTANT NOTE The Laboratory for the Kerry Town Treatment Centre in the Western Area has been installed and has started operations today. The lab will continue to scale up its operation and will double the current laboratory capacity for Ebola in the country once it is operational to its full capacity. This new lab will help reduce the challenge of delayed results for collected samples from communities due to limited laboratory capacity.
