PRESS STATEMENT FROM ZAMBIA POLICE We would like to dismiss reports published in today’s Daily Nation ( Wednesday, November, 5, 2014, page 2) under the headline “Police attempt to arrest Edgar)” that police officers attempted to arrest Defence and Justice Minister , Hon. Edgar Lungu after Police Command received an order from Acting Republican President, Dr. Guy Scott on Monday night. We would like to state that the reports are not true and that we had and still have no intentions of arresting Hon. Lungu. We would also want to state that at no point did the Police Command receive any order from the acting President, Dr. Scott to have Hon. Lungu arrested. As Zambia Police, we are pre-occupied with our duty of maintaining Law and order and on the alleged day, we were on the ground quelling the protests that had rocked some parts of Lusaka. We will however, invite Patriotic Front Director of Media and Publicity, Mr. Brian Hapunda to come and help us with information that would enable us investigate the origin of this information.
