PRESS STATEMENT KAMPALA 2 APRIL, 2014 PRESS BRIEFING TOMORROW, THURSDAY, 3 APRIL, 2014; 10:00AM, UGANDAN HOUSE This morning, Tuesday April 2, 2014, the Democracy-seeking opposition political party and civil society leaders, met with the US Ambassador to Uganda, Mr. Scott De Lisi, at his residence, in Kampala. The leaders and their host discussed a range of issues, including their current national campaign for Free and Fair Elections NOW! Ambassador De Lisi reaffirmed US commitments to Uganda-American relations based on values, and on the two planes of State-to-state, and people-to-people relations. Later in the afternoon, the same group of leaders met with the Minister for Internal Affairs, General Aronda Nyakairima; the Minister of State for Internal Affairs, Hon. John Baba; the Inspector General of Police (IGP), General Kale Kayihura; Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander, Andrew Felix Kaweesi, and the In-Charge, Operations, Grace Turyagumanawe, at 4:00pm; in the Boardroom of the National Security Information Systems Project Office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds. Unfortunately the meeting with the ministers Gen. Aronda, Baba, and their senior police officers ended well after 8:00PM; and it was too late to brief the media. A media briefing has now been rescheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, 3 April, 2014, at 10:00am, at Uganda House. The leaders will share with the media, the outcomes of their meetings with Generals Aronda and Kayihura, and the one earlier with the US Ambassador. Please, make arrangements to attend. I apologise for the long wait some of you had to endure; and for the leaders not being able to address the press as had been arranged this afternoon. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For more information on this and related developments, you may contact Mr. Okello Lucima, at: okello.lucima@gmail ; Tel: 0757190157
