PRESS STATEMENT ON THE MPEKETONI MASSACRE ON SUNDAY 15/06/2014. The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and the entire CORD fraternity takes this opportunity to condole with the families, friends and relatives of the victims of the very sad, vicious and brutal killings that took place in Mpeketoni, in Lamu County last night. We express our deepest sympathy with the affected families and the communities in Lamu County and the entire Coast region. We wish those injured in this tragedy a speedy recovery. We condemn this incident of murder, maiming and wanton destruction of life and property by cowards who use terror as a tool against innocent civilians. This is not the time for blame games. We must as leaders and as a nation rally together to respond to this serious national tragedy. Indeed, the worsening insecurity in the country is a matter of grave national importance. The attack in Mpeketoni amplifies the urgency for us as Kenyans to sit together to address security of our people among other grave issues affecting us. Signed Rt. Hon.
