PRETTY IN PINK -A JOURNEY OF DREAMS LUNCH ON Todays event at St. Luke Baptist Church was the culmination of a month long celebration of cancer survivalship. There were 21 cancer survivors honored during a well attended luncheon where our own First Lady, Lillie Wheat gave a beautiful message on A Journey of Dreams. She related our lifes journey to that of an actual journey. Where there are short and long destinations- where on those journeys there always seem to be some type of obstacles. Cancer is one of those obstacles. But just as we have to find a way to overcome those obstacles in order to get to our destination, God is our pilot in overcoming the obstacles of cancer. He is our refuge and our healer. She went on to talk about our dreams - not the ones we have while we are asleep but the ones that we have while were awake. Those things that we aspire to do, to go, to acquire. Those things that we think about on our lifes journey. We are all blessed to still be here fulfilling our dreams through the mercy and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Mrs. Wheat is a 18 year breast cancer survor. The longest cancer survivor there was Dorothy Maxey - 26 years!! In the midst of all of the women there were 2 men cancer survivors; one who is just beginning his journey and the other who has been on his journey for over 16 years. The food was delicious. It was donated by Beta Phi Omega Sorority and prepared by Sandra Woodards Catering. Gifts for each honoree - a bottle of Journey of Dreams by Mary Kay was provided by each honorees sponsor. It was a very beautiful day outside and the ladies in their many shades of pink was beautiful inside as well.
