PROJECT --MONKEY MENACE---- The SOLUTION Project conceived& planned by : DR.K.D.Pandey ,Consultant Scientist Email; pandeykd27@gmail , (M)08800293975 The VISION : Control of Monkey menace & Rehabilitation of their habitate in Uttarakhand/ H.P.& Other HILL States The ACTIVITIES : 1.Satellite imaging of the area of the Forest Land & Cheer forest. 2.Identification of rich habitate for plantation of wild fruit trees and other eatable fruits trees depending on agro climatic condition. 3.Selection of plants on basis of topography/ Agro-climatic zone /condition on the site . 4.Establishment of plant nurseries/identification of source (govt.bodies/instt/private farmers)for the suitable samplings. 5. Involving villagers (from MANREGA/Panchayat) for digging pits manuring, plantation ,watering& caring. 6. Fixing of Wages for the type of WORK viz. • Digging/ manuring /plantation….Rs.20/-per plant [one person to plant min. 100 trees ,so employment of villagers.]:cost of planting 2Lac trees=40 Lac only,employing 200-500 persons. • Caring/watering/manuring till plant is 3 years old….Rs.15/-per plant to be paid to the person.(min.100 trees).Cost 30 Lac only, employing 200-500 persons. • Monitoring of work/survivability of plants checking through Mobile Android phones -involving NGO and other groups.Arranging protection to plants ®ular visits planned. Rs.20/-per plant be kept as administrative expences. Cost 40 Lac only 7. Caring of plants for 3years;Renumeration to identified villagers /panchayat\school children/Aaganwari workers/health workers.etc.Thus total cost of project is 1.1 cror only for 2 Lac surviving trees till 3 years. 8. Strategy for cutting of Cheer trees in circumference of hills/round zone & simultaneous planting of samplings. Hill-tops to be planted with OAK (banj) samplings. Revenue generation of 2 cror for project from cut cheer-trees. 9. Creation of ASHOK –BATIKA in these regions : Deciding/planning the plantation of fruit bearing trees /broadleaf trees etc. depending on agro climatic zone.eg.Peepal ,Sahtoot, Painya,Banj,Utish,Dewadara,Mango,Khumani,Bhikua,Darim,Bitan,Karipatta,Beru,Timil, Mihal,Kaphal,Reetha,Akharot,Amrood,Kushmyar,Sadabahar,Jangali-Ber,Kharik,Aanwala,Malta,Chota-Neeboo,Bara-Neeboo, Jamir, Kagaji-Neebu, Papita, Kela, Aalubukhara ,Kharik, Aanwala, Tuni tree, Reetha, Bansh/bamboo,Burash,Mosammi,Malta,Santara,Aaru/peach,Pulum,Darim,Ghigaru,Darim,AAnar,Sadaba har, Bargad, Butter fruit tree/Avokado,Jakranda,Gulbahar,Kathal,Sundi/tunee,Suraee,Buransh,Nashpati, Champa,Maulsiri,Tamal,Patal,Dhak,Mango,Queral,Padam,Aangoo,Popular,Other Bushes;Ghigaruu,Timuur,Kilmora,Hisalu,Karonda,Jungali-Ber,Bara-ber,Jhilmora,including tuber crops and medicinal plants. 10.Regular seeding of area with Madua,Ragi,Dal-bhat,Rajma,etc.;Creepers seed like Lauky,Torayi,Kaddu,Sem etc. to make available multiple crops, food kinds like Tubers/beru/fig/hinsalu/kilmora,etc round the year. 11.Creation of Zones 1 to 10 in Uttarakhand /Hillstates on Agroclimatic basis,transport accessibility,cluster of villages,contiguity of forest ,distance from villages.Developing Protected Zones /centuaries in consultation with govt deptt/Ministry of Forest/Meetings with DFO,including retired forest personals. 12. Taking up these zones (ASHOK-BATIKAS) for Rehabilitation of Monkeys ,in a phased manner after developing a PERT- Chart of Activities in a time bound manner for 1 to 5/10 years. 13. In 2nd & 3rd phase the barren hills to be covered for eco-development, water harvesting for Rojgar needs with woods, bamboo, grass, bushes, wild fruit trees and medicinal plants etc. for economic benefit of farmers. 14.Other related activity: Formation of a Rapid Action Team equipped with Tranqilizing guns to act on receiving a call at phone no. 200 ,on citing a monkey, catching after tranquilizing and transporting to nearby shelter/forest. 15. The project envisages planting of one to 10 million fruit bearing trees and broad leaf trees after felling the pine trees from the forest area in UTTRAKHAND & Other hills,thus avoiding forest fires,and creating of ASHOK –BATIKAS having wild fruit trees for Rehabilitation of Monkeys, thereby achieving freedom from monkey –menace. --------------- ….. --------------
