PROJECT BARK – FERAL CAT TRAPPING A few weeks ago an excellent article appeared in the News & Record in regard to the plight of the many feral cat communities in Greensboro. The article was the result of an interview between Bev Levine, a BARK volunteer and Susan Ladd of the N&R. As a result of the article BARK has received much needed donations but on the other hand we have also received many requests for assistance in trapping feral cats. We have also received requests for the loan of traps for those of you who are knowledgeable in the trapping process. Unfortunately BARK is not in the trapping business. We have our MEOW Fund which provides financial assistance for the spay/neutering of all cats, both domestic and feral but that is the extent of our activities in this area. The issue of T-N-R (trap and return) of feral cats is a monumental issue and to my knowledge there is no organization in Greensboro that on a day to day basis provides trapping services. The Animal Shelter (279-0563), The Humane Society (299-3999) and FCAP (Feral Cat Assistance Program – 267-9543) do rent out traps and they all require a deposit. Anyone interested in doing their own trapping should contact one of these organizations for assistance. We are still in dire need of financial resources for our MEOW Fund so if you are interested in helping out please visit our web site at projectbark.org and click on the ‘donate’ tab. Thank you.
