PROJECTED Featuring Digital & New Media by: Max Almy & Teri Yarbrow, Robert Drummond, Nancy Dwyer, Matthew Kluber and Stephen Knapp May 30 - June 29, 2014 Artist Recpetion: Friday, May 30, 2014 5:00 - 7:00 PM This exhibition will run in conjunction with CURRENTS, the Santa Fe International New Media Festival, June 13 - 29, 2014 at El Museo Cultural de Santa Fe. Almy & Yarbrow’s Blue Tara explores an ancient art form, the mandala, in a very contemporary and up to date way with video, digital and particle animations and intricately etched glass. Robert Drummond also revisits former state of the art technology, such as glass insulators and cathode ray tubes. He combines both with today’s LCD videos and audio, all in a cast glass, pigment-infused, stainless steel case. Nancy Dwyer uses video technology and her language-based art to create letters that slowly transform from one into another and spell an ever-changing cycle of “expect” and “delays”. Matthew Klubers screen shots of early day computer data collapse are projected on painted aluminum surfaces that resembles the same luminosity as that of a computer screen. Stephen Knapp’s light paintings are comprised of colored glass, angled mirrors and a single light source that transform a both the white background and room.
