PROPOSED RESOLUTION NO._ “RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE CONTRIBUTION OF BRIGADIER GENERAL LUCERO TO ARMM REFORM” Whereas, Brigadier General Daniel A. Lucero commander of the 1st Infantry (TABAK) Division, died last June 2 of cardiac arrest after scuba diving during an outing at a beach in Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur; Whereas, Lucero served in Basilan as 18th Infantry Batallion commander and the Army’s 103rd Brigade in Lanao del Sur; Whereas, Lucero was deputized by then ARMM each Governor Mujiv Hataman in January 2012 to enforce a total log ban in Lanao del Sur, which hosts the second largest lake in the country Lake Lanao and its watersheds; Whereas, the late Brigade General will be remembered in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) for his tough implementation of the total ban on cutting on trees in the watersheds of Lake Lanao while commander of an Army brigade in Lanao del Sur; Whereas , Lucero implemented a campaign against multiple and flying registrants in support of the ARMM’s roadmap of cleansing the voters list through the COMELEC’s re-registration last July 9-18 contributing to a historic decrease of more than 171,000 voters; Whereas, Lucero founded Task Force KASALIMBAGO and facilitated the Peace Covenants among rival mayoralty candidates thereby contributing to a peaceful conduct of synchronized elections in May 2013 without a failure of elections; RESOLVED, by the Regional Assembly, to furnish this Resolution in sympathy to the family of Brigadier General Lucero; Resolved further to furnish copies of this Resolution to the OPAPP, COMELEC, Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Philippine Army , the ARMM Governor, local government units of Basilan and Lanao del Sur and civil society groups.
