PROVINCIAL DISASTER RISK REDUCTION AND MANAGEMENT OFFICE Provincial Disaster Operation Center Province of Albay PDRRMC ADVISORY 3 (*) Mayon Volcano Status September 15, 2014 11:00Pm At 10PM tonight, PHIVOLCS has raised the Alert Level of Mayon Volcano from Alert Level 2 to Alert Level 3 ( from Alarming to Critical Status) due to the continuous observation of increasing abnormalities based on the parameters being monitored by the agency. In view of this, the PDRRMC hereby orders the following counter measures for disaster avoidance: 1. Reiteration of PDRRMC Advisory 1 for Mayon Volcano. 2. FORCED EVACUATION is, hereby ordered on all settlers (whether returning or newly settled) to enforce the NO HUMAN ACTIVITY inside the 6KM PDZ. Based on our recent aerial surveys of Mayon before and after Alert 2, we have observed some re-entry of about 300 settlers into the 6KM PDZ even though they long been resettled. Moreover, other settlers may have taken advantage of the interregnum since the Mayon eruption 2009. 3. Since Alert 2 last Aug. 15, we have conducted training of Mayon LGUs and Mayon barangays. They are hereby advised to set these preparations into motion for an imminent evacuation of the 10,000 families in the 6-8km EDZ buffer zone. All City/.Municipal/Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils concerned ( Legazpi City, Tabaco City, Ligao City, Guniobatan, Camalig, Daraga, Sto. Domingo and Malilipot) to activate and convene and get ready for evacuation of the 6-8 Extended Danger Zone. 4. The cluster approach esp. for camp management as organised and practiced during the Mayon 2009 eruption shall be employed. 5. DepEd to prepare contingency plan for school classes to be affected. 6. Population located at the northeast of Mayon Volcano to be ready with damp cloths/dust mask in case of ashfall. 7. AFP, PNP, PEO and other evacuation committee members to check availability of evacuation vehicles and report to PDRRMC and report to PDRRMC Operation Center for dispatch. 8. PDRRMC meeting tomorrow September 16, 2014 at 9:00Am at APSEMO with mayors of the abovementioned cities and municipalities. So ordered.
