PS Meant to apologise for my rant about my opposition to a two-tiered system of primary and highschool education in Australia. I know I upset many of you. I WILL clarify by saying that I also loathe the regional/rural and higher/lower socioeconomic divides in the delivery of education across even urban areas, such as Brisbane. I did NOT sympathise with arguments that this just works for my child and I am glad my parents found the money... a) you can afford the best thing that works for your child and b) your parents didnt find the money, they had it and c) if we all invested in education every child - regardless of circumstance - would have an equal opportunity to succeed in life. I also say this with the disclaimer that we can afford (we didnt find the money - nor did we work harder than other workers) to send our kids to excellent state schools by paying HUGE rent in rich suburbs. I just wish we all fought for equality in education. Rant OVAH!
