PSA: there is a lot of stuff to do when someone dies, even if their affairs are in order. Do your loved ones a favor and take care of business now. You never know when your day will come. First order of business: make sure you put beneficiaries on all bank and investment accounts, life insurance policies, etc. if you are recently divorced (or married) update all accounts and policies. Write a will. Do lady bird deeds for real property. If there is someone that you dont want to inherit your property and they are deemed an heir by your states intestate statute, the only way you can prevent them from inheriting is to write a will. Get busy!
