PSEi 7,154.22 +86.19 / +1.22% Val. 6.60B The Philippine Stock Exchange Index rose 86.19 points, closing the day at 7,154.22. The Dow, S&P, and Nasdaq ended up closing +1.31%, +1.96%, and +2.40%, respectively. Market breadth was positive, with winners outnumbering losers, 111 to 67; meanwhile, 41 stocks were left unchanged. a. According to ABS-CBN News, the partnership between Ayala Corporation (P700.00 / +1.16%) and Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Inc. (P51.20 / +3.43%) will not participate if the government decides to rebid the public-private partnership (PPP) project. AC and AEV, under the name Team Orion, submitted the highest bid and offered to pay the government P11.6 billion for the project, but San Miguel Corp. filed an appeal following its disqualification. President Aquino said the government is considering reopening the bidding process for the project because of SMC’s protests. The CALAX project is a 47-kilometer toll road that would start in Kawit, Cavite, and end in Biñan, Laguna. The project is expected to begin construction next year and completed by 2017. b.
