PUNE: As the police arrested 20 people in connection to the alleged murder of Shaikh Mohasin Sadiq, a 24-year-old IT professional in Pune on Monday, a SMS boasting the crime as Pahili wicket padli (first wicket fallen) was exchanged on mobiles of the killers, Hindustan Times reports. The message was circulated among the members of Hindu Rashtra Sena, a right-wing group, accused of the murder. Sadiq was beaten to death in Pune by seven men because of apparently derogatory comments about late Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray on social networking site Facebook. Sadiq was returning home in the evening when he was assaulted with hockey sticks and stones. Tragically, later reports suggested that Sadiq was not even the person who had uploaded the derogatory post on Shivaji on Facebook. The incident sparked tension in the area which urged the cops to impose a curfew for 12 hours. The cops said that a mob was protesting on Monday over alleged damage to a Shivaji statue and also rape of a Hindu girl. The damage to Shivajis statue and rape were rumours, said the police. The cops earlier arrested 20 suspects belonging to Hindu Rashtra Sena. Thirteen of 20 men have been arrested for murder. Among the people arrested is Hindu Rashtra Sena chief Dhananjay Desai who along with other accused has been sent to police custody till June 9 by a local court. (With inputs from agencies)
