PURA proposals. I would trash the proposals/grants I wrote in ugrad pretty hard too, but... my assigned bin is, for the most part, terrible. Things ugrads seeking PURA should do/things almost entirely nonexistent from the proposals that Ive read: 0. Use LaTeX or be a wizard at Word (hint: youre probably not a wizard). 1. Write a literature review. Cite some papers. Try. 2. Include figures. Citing imaginary figures is bad--awkward box of shame. 3. Be concise. Name and course dropping is made of fail. Your grad student collaborator is, like me, a worthless mention that makes you look self-important--as is the 1xxx course you took. 4. Estimate the project schedule (properly). Use Gantt charts. No, IRB approval does not generally only take two weeks, even if its expedited review. Nice try, buddy.
