Pagham Beach makes front page news again: CRISIS PLEA IN BEACH BATTLE - MP calls for new Whitehall talks as residents fear winter flooding. The plight of Pagham Beach residents has been taken to the top as a new winter crisis looms. Nick Gibb MP said a meeting between himself, the Secretary of State for the Environment, Farming and Rural Affairs, Elizabeth Truss, and other bodies would be convened to find ways to protect homes from the encroaching sea. Mr Gibb said: “It is time all the statutory bodies responsible for Pagham Beach changed their opinion and accepted the only long-term solution to the erosion of Pagham Beach caused by the shingle spit is to cut a channel through the spit.” Meanwhile, residents have said expensive emergency work to the beach is not lasting.
