Pahari leaders demand white paper on utilization of funds GJ REPORT/Flash/Back RAJOURI, State Vice president Bhartiya Janta Party and senior Pahari leader, Advocate Vibodh Gupta alongwith other leaders demanded white paper on funds utilization in the Pahari Advisory Board and its functionaries, here today. Gupta was supported by Javed Mughal President Pahari Action Committee, who also condemned the working of the Board. He alleged that there is multi crores embezzlement in Pahari Advisory Board in Scholarship distributions /Fund allocation and its further distribution to different Hostels. He further alleged that the casual labour and other appointments are done by the Board, violating all the prescribed rules and norms. He added that the Jungle Raj is prevailing in Pahari Advisory Board and its subsidiaries. Demanding white paper on the funds released and its utilization for Pahari community on account of scholarship/Funds, Gupta alleged that 60 percent of the funds meant for Pahari community has been misused. He said that a nexus is running between Pahari Advisory Board and some politicians in the coalition Government, due to which the funds meant for the welfare of the Pahari community, are diverted to the lockers of the corrupt leaders and their so called supporters. He further added that all the expenditures shown are totally fraud and it is sad on the part of the Government for keeping mum on the subject. There are many plans and schemes that are initiated by the administration for the welfare of the community and the people of the area, but all ends only in the files and nothing comes to the ground, he added. He also questioned the functioning of State Board for the Development of Pahari Speaking people and expressed his resentment toward the biased attitude of the Board towards some particular religions and castes. In a statement issued here, Vibodh Gupta and Ashwani Kumar demanded that Vice Chairman of the Board should immediately release white paper on the utilization of funds. He said that there are contradictions in the claims and practical work of Vice Chairman and he must issue a white paper to clear his position. They further blamed that 50 percent students of Pahari community are deprived of the Pahari scholarship and there are large scale complaints of bungling in the Pahari scholarship. There is no monitoring and check on the scholarship and the money of Government exchequer is not reaching its actual place of utilization, they maintained. Gupta said that only 3% percent of students enrolled in Pahari Hostels belong to Hindu and Sikh community and these communities are being ignored on all the fronts by the Pahari Board. Spokesman Pahari Action Committee Umar Mir and Gen Secretary Pahari Student Union Shiraz Ahmed said that Pahari Hostels have become the private property of the politicians and poor Pahari students are facing a lot of problems and harassment by the gunda elements in hostels. They further added that despite repeated reminders and requests, nothing has been done for the redressal of their problems by the administration, so far.
