Painted Dog Conservation (PDC) The Painted Dog or African Wild - TopicsExpress

Painted Dog Conservation (PDC) The Painted Dog or African Wild Dog is one of the most endangered carnivores in Africa today. They once numbered over 500,000 and found in over thirty African Countries. Now there are less than 5000 in just several countries! YWPF wants to save these very intelligent, highly social animals from extinction. One of their last stronghold is in Zimbabwe and this is where PDC are based. PDC works with the local communities to make sure they and the painted dogs that live alongside them have a viable and sustainable future. Yorkshire Wildlife Park Foundation supports the PDC vaccine programme to protect the domestic dogs from diseases like canine distemper which is spread to and kills painted dogs. PDC also run anti-poaching and anti-snare patrols which help protect the panted dogs and other wildlife.
