Palm oil is Indonesias second highest export revenue contributor - TopicsExpress

Palm oil is Indonesias second highest export revenue contributor after coal, representing 10.53% of total exports. President Jokowi has wasted no time revealing that Indonesias palm oil export revenue is a top priority for his administration. He met with the European Councils President, Herman Van Rompuy, in his Presidential Palace on Wed, 19th Nov, asking him to ease EU trade barriers. The EU is Indonesias 2nd largest export market for Certified Palm Oil (CPO) accounting for 19% of total, while 20% is exported to India and 15% to China. The anti-palm oil sentiment is already evident, especially in France where some food manufacturers already put a “no palm oil” label on their products. From this report, it does not seem that Rompuy made any promises to comply with President Jokowi, although he remains positive about a mutually beneficial EU-Indonesian economic relationship. thejakartapost/news/2014/11/19/govt-asks-eu-ease-ri-palm-oil-export.html
