Pampore Final Update::::::::: Police party attacked, Civilian and a cop lost their lives, Hizb claims responsibility Hizb claims responsibility, “We didn’t kill civilian’ Pampore, Aug 13, CNS: A cop and a civilain was killed when suspected militants attacked a police vehicle near Galandar Pampore in South Kashmir’s Pulwam district on Wednesday night. Police sources told CNS that unidentified gunmen resorted to indiscriminate firing on a police vehicle near Galandar Pampore. The DySP from 11th Battalion IRP Abdul Hamid according to sources escaped unhurt while two cops including Head Constable Muhammad Yaqoob and Mehraj-u-Din sustained injuries. They were shifted to nearby hospital for treatment where according to police one of them sucumbed to his injuries in the hospital. Police said that a civilian Manzoor Ahmed Qasab son of Ali Muhammad resident of Awantipore who was driving a Sumo was hit by bullet that resulted in his on spot death. Sources said that militants managed to flee from the spot after the strike while Army personnel from 50 RR, SOG, CRPF and police personnel cordonned off the area. Massive search operation was going on till the last reports. Pertinently, militants attacked a BSF convoy injuring 9 soldiers including an Assistant Commandent on Monday night. The responsibility of that attacke was claimed by militant outfit Hizbul Mujhadeen. A police handout said that Wednesday evening militants fired upon a police vehicle at Galander in the jurisdiction of Police Station Pampore. Two police personnel and a civilian got injured. All the injured were shifted to hospital for treatment. The civilian and a policeman succumbed to the injuries. The area has been cordoned off and search of the area has started. Meanwhile, Hizbul Mujhadeen while claiming the responsibility of the pampore attack said that such attacks would continue in wake India’s independence celebrations in Kashmir. Operational Spokesperson Hizbul Mujhadeen Baleeg-u-Din told CNS on phone that its Highway Squad carried out the Pampore attack while Mujhadeen managed to reach their safe destinations after the attack. He further claimed that it were Hizb guerellas who killed the Railway Protection Force personnel Rajinder Singh in Pulwama and siad that the rifle of the deceased cop was also santched by the Mujhadeen after the attack. Hizb Operational Spokesperson further told CNS that the civilian at Pampore was killed in police firing Hizb Mujhadeen only attacked the cops. (CNS)
