Panchkula, India: In a major clash between the police and Haryana school computer teachers on Friday, the police lathi-charged around 500 teachers. This resulted in injuring 24 of them, out of which two were seriously injured, including a woman teacher, Razia Sultan, from Yamuna Nagar. One of the injured has been referred to the PGI, as he was in a state of shock. Razia suffered blows on her head, and was badly bruised. She was among the 54 people who were fasting unto death from July 28 in Sector 5. [...] Teachers want the government to directly recruit them under a government contract, and should discontinue the contract of private companies for the recruitment process.
