Pander pander pander, pander, pander, pander, bullshit. (See my reply below.) ............... Yeah right. There are so many problems with this President Barack Obama and The The White House... 1) Most of a college education goes to administrative fees and not tuition for students. Because it is such big business (as is the business of poverty, part of which is the student loan sharking), colleges will have no incentive to comply. 2) An associates usually takes more than two years. The average is three. This also puts disabled students and the poor at a disadvantage because those who are infirmed in one way or another may have mobility issues AND those who are poor have to rely on public transportation. In states that have heavy winters, snowfall, and/or wind chill, this is a consideration. 3) You are basing the expectation, I presume, on colleges being up-to-date with their programs? I hate to tell you Mr. President, but that is not the case in many places, including the state of Maines community college system. What are your plans for students who have to change majors mid-degree because they realize what they are studying isnt worth the paper its printed on? 4) Based on reason 2, what are your expectations for those who are disabled? Particularly in the realms of a physical disability that affects mobility? 4.a) Where are these jobs supposed to magically come from? The bulk of American jobs do not have living wages or full time hours. 5) It is exceptionally unfair to expect those who have been to college to pay their astronomical interest fees, so unless this is a unilateral loan forgiveness, it just wont work. 6) And this is more of a recommendation; to pay for this, how about forcing the (federal) Internal Revenue Service to change the tax laws so that the upper middle class, rich, super rich, and corporations are paying the same rates as average citizens? In fact, that would resolve a lot of problems. And if you cannot prevent this (see story below), how can we trust youll enact the student benefices? As youre very well aware, trusted financial analysts Bizrate projected that as of last year, 75% of working Americans were living paycheck to paycheck. huffingtonpost/2015/01/05/food-stamp-enrollment_n_6419196.html
