Paoli Dam has received the Star Ananda Shera Bangali award 2009, the most prestigious award for any new actor in Bengal. She made her mark with the bengali feature film Kalbela directed by Gautam Ghosh. Her filmography include Raja Sen’s Teen Murti, based on legendary filmmaker Tapan Sinha’s last screenplay. She is also a major name in the mainstream bengali cinema. Her films include Hoechhe Ta Ki, directed by Basu Chatterjee, Jamai Raja and Amar Pratigya by Swapan Saha, Bangla Bachao by Anup Sengupta, Thana Theke Aschi by Saron Dutta, Tara by Bratya Basu. She has also worked with Buddhadeb Dasgupta in his TV series for the National Network based on Maheshwata Devi’s short stories. Paoli’s performance in Rituparno Ghosh’s Sob Charitra Kalponik earned her praise and acclaim in many important film festivals all over. Her major works include Gautam Ghosh’s Moner Manush with Prosenjit Chatterjee, Anjan Das’s Banshiwala and Ajana Batash, Atanu Ghosh’s Takhan Teish, Bappaditya Banndopadhyay’s Kagojer Bou and Elar Char Adhyay ( Based on Rabindranath Tagore’s Char Adhyay), Mainak Bhowmik’s Bedroom among other films. She made her Hindi Film Debut with Vikram Bhat’s Hate Story and went on to do Ankur Arora Murder Case. She walked the Red Carpet at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival for the film of Acclaimed Sri Lankan director Vimukthi Jayasundara’s film.
