Paramhamsa Yogivah Giri ji writes on various aspects of Kriya yoga: When practicing the kriya Yoga Om technique, during which attention is given to listening to the internal sound, in the causal body, and fine cosmic sounds are inwardly heard. In the beginning stages of practice one may hear the sounds of nerve forces, then astral sounds emanating from the chakras, then finer celestial sounds. Finally one hears the steady sound of Om and is able to be absorbed in it. Yogis also practice the sky mudra, with advanced practice the meditator can move through the spaces in consciousness. Not all yogis need to practice the physical khechari mudra that contributes to holding prana steady during samadhi. Through perfect contemplation on fine matter, one experiences lightness of body and ether (fine matter) and with the gentle exercise of will of the upward movement one acquires the ability of levitation. Some yogis move in consciousness through space and may appear at points distant from where the physical body is resting. Some do this consciously and some do it without being aware of it; that is, a yogi may feel drawn to a certain place for a disciple or devotee, the devotee will claim that he actually saw the form of that person.
