Paranormal TV Shows Reviews: Supernatural Season 1 dlvr.it/3wbPGD A new series I plan to do about Paranormal TV shows that I’ve watched and or recommend. Below I’ll give my overall vote of the season, my opinion on it and how I feel about it in general. While these have no aspect in the discussion of real paranormal entities or events that may unfold, many of us on here do watch these type of shows or are looking for more at the least and I find this may be a fun way to introduce more TV shows to the masses on this genre (especially since most horror and/or paranormal shows tend to suck!) Since this is part 1 I’m going to start with “Supernatural” Since this is a long running TV show I’ll start with the first series of Supernatural and give my honest opinion on it. My girlfriend was the one who showed this show to me, I watched the first episode of season 5 live on TV with her. Yikes! Yes, certainly it wasn’t the best place to start, but it got me curious enough mainly because of the angels and demon storyline that this show tends to revolve around in the later seasons, this got me interested enough to watch more. Together when our day was done we’d put on Supernatural and watch an episode or two so I could catch up on the seasons. The first episode was, to be frank, a breath of fresh air compared to most TV shows of this genre. It was dark, edgy and gave a unique storyline and tale. I won’t give any spoilers about season 1 or future seasons in this TV show, or at least “minimum” spoilers, as I want you to be able to enjoy the TV show too. Here is the basic premise the show consists of: It starts off with two brothers, the eldest is called Dean, the younger one being Sam. Sam has moved on with his life and is in a relationship with a woman called Jess. Dean, however, is a “hunter.” What exactly is a hunter? A hunter is someone who goes around and kills supernatural creatures. Some hunters follow a pattern of anything supernatural should be exterminated while others believe the ones that live in peace and do not harm humans or the innocent should be left alone. Dean is a hunter due to his father being one since he was a child. Dean was given the responsibility to look after Sam while he was younger while his father went out hunting monsters. The reason for the father being a hunter is down to the fact their mother was “killed” when Dean and Sam were children. Their father, John, saw the eyes of the entity that did it (he believes it to be a demon) and swore revenge. For the first two seasons we don’t hear the name of the entity he believes did the killing due to the fact that they obviously don’t know it. Instead they call it the “yellow eyed demon.” After the first episode, Dean persuades Sam to join him as their father has gone missing and he’s scared he might be killed by the thing he was hunting. Sam declines, but due to events that unfold is forced to join his brother (trying to keep this as spoiler free as I can). The first episode is great and follows a very dark pattern. The second episode gets even darker as they began tracking their father they find a Wendigo that is eating people in the mountains/forest area. Sam’s lack of experience, and dean not going against entities as powerful as this find it hard to keep the local camping group safe and stop the attack, overall this is one of my favourite episodes of the season and even though it’s a monster of the week type episode it still remains one of my favorites all these years later! The season continues going this way, throwing in bits of story but focusing on a monster of the week pattern. There was however around 6 to 7 episodes of very intense story and overall it is an emotional blockbuster. There are parts that will make you angry at certain characters, parts that will make you want to cry for them and want to help them etc. And to me this is what makes a show “exceptional.” They do a good job in the early seasons of keeping as close to the real myths and legends of the fictional entities they bring in as possible and they deserve a lot of credit for this. Unfortunately this does tend to go away in the later seasons where they begin making things up and not always for the good, but enjoy it in the early seasons as it is done exceptionally well! Supernatural is a great TV show overall and I give Supernatural Season 1 a 8.5 out of 10 it was a great season and I really enjoyed it, I don’t feel I can recommend it enough. Until next time,
