Pardon me if i remain sceptical of the claims to being pro-freedom by those who insist that Pakistan Occupied Kashmir is in a better position than Indian Occupied Kashmir, that Azad Kashmir is a model to follow and Pakistan is more open to Kashmiri freedom than India is. Pakistan had many decades to give genuine freedoms to Kashmir under its control and shame India and yet what it has done is only used Kashmiris for their own geopolitical games vis-a-vis India. The 1974 constitutional arrangement for Azad Kashmir insists on the leaders belonging to only one religious identity and permanent loyalty to Pakistan - is this the model pro Pakistan Kashmirir leaders want all inhabitants of Jammu and Kashmir (Muslims and non Muslims) to accept? The least we can do is use terminologies with honesty. Pro India or Pro Pakistan leaders are not for azadi/freedom or self-determination (for how can it be freedom and self-determination if people are forced to chose between the two occupying power). If one wants to work for Pakistan or India, then be honest in their terminology and stop (mis)using the term freedom. As for credibility of selectionsand elections in Kashmir under occupation, they do not take away from the basic fact that the right of self-determination of Kashmiris as a people has NOT been respected and until that is respected, Kashmiris will not be free.
