Parent Educator – Parenting Arizona – Tuba City, AZ - #2013-699 Work Location: 220 Main Street, Tuba City, AZ 86045 This position will provide community based in-home delivery of early childhood services to parents and children; encourage and support the implementation of parent involvement activities; provide advocacy and support services information to families about community resources and assist them in assessing appropriate services; Ability to use a variety of computer software relevant to community mapping and resources. Excellent planning and organizational skills; Should possess strong communication skills (written and verbal); Travel to and from program sites, transporting program materials. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field of study and 1 year work experience working with children and parents; Demonstrated ability to form supportive and nurturing relationships with multi-problem families; knowledge of child development, parenting skills and community resources; Bilingual in English/Navajo preferred; Must have driver’s license, DEPENDABLE transportation, automobile insurance and undergo a background check including fingerprint clearance. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Successfully complete the Parents as Teachers training and certification as a Parent Educator; Maintain current certification as a Parent Educator, by completing the required professional development hours for years of service; possess effective communication skills; Use appropriate work-related behavior, dress and attitude; Adhere to required confidentiality practices; Provide parent education through regular visits implementing the Parents as Teachers curriculum; Conduct community outreach to recruit families; Coordinate services with other agencies providing services to families and young children; Bilingual in English/Navajo preferred; Knowledge of child development a parenting skills; Capable of working with diverse cultural populations; Possess good written and verbal communication skills; Fulfill all contract requirements including recruitment, data collection and reporting attendance records; Participate in regular scheduled supervision with supervisor; Demonstrate appropriate level of knowledge about child development and parent-child interaction; Complete tasks as requested by supervisor; Initial employment physical, TB test, Criminal Background check including Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance, CPR and First Aid and valid Arizona Drivers License.
