Parent/teacher conferences started this week. A few have asked, How do you do it? I thought about it and the answer is simple; structure, support, storytelling, and a lot of love. I think everything I do falls into one of those categories. Oh, and you have to genuinely love kids...they can sniff out insincerity and will eat you alive. ;-) Yesterday as one of my students was leaving with his parents, (he is autistic) he casually called out I love you Mrs. Pena. and walked out the door. No eye contact, just a sweet sentiment. I love you too Johnny.
