Parenting Agreements Organising care arrangements for children - TopicsExpress

Parenting Agreements Organising care arrangements for children after a separation can often be a difficult task, especially there is uncertainty as to when one parent may have the child in their care and there are concerns that important decisions for the children will be made without one parent’s consultation. If you feel that it is necessary for your children’s care arrangements and other important information about your children to be recorded formally to ensure consistency, but you do not wish to go through the Family Court, you are able to enter a Parenting Agreement with the other parent. A parenting agreement is a contract signed by both parties and can record the following information: • The times that the children will be in each parents’ care and or another person’s care • Communication between parents about health matters • The forum of communication for the child care matters eg telephone, text or email • The children’s continuation at a certain school • The name by which the children will continue to be known by and enrolled in school under • The Doctor’s clinic the children will continue to attend Provision can also be made for a Parenting Agreement to include a clause for the Agreement to be incorporated into a formal Parenting Order, issued by the Family Court, should the need ever arise for an application to be made for a Parenting Order.
