Parenting can be hard, and today started out as one if the roughest days in a really long time, with Auggie in a full blown meltdown, not wanting to go to school because he didnt want to do the Fun Run. (yeah, I dont get it either... kids are weird.) So heres how it turned out... participation, smiles, high fives, and hugs. This is the good part. Six months ago I would have had to miss that part. I would have had to drop him off screaming and crying and then sit a a desk all day feeling like a rotten mom. Trust me, I know, because I had those days and it tore me up inside. Today I got to come back to school an hour later and see how he had pulled himself together. I got to give him a big hug and tell him I was proud of him, watch him speed around the track to get in that final lap, and see the giant smile and sense of accomplishment on his face. Next on the agenda? Probably more tears because hes about to go reflect on the incident and write a paper about how his behavior affected others and how he can handle it better in the future. Parenting can be hard, but its worth it. ❤️
