Parents & Friends, Mr. Richmer called this morning to give us - TopicsExpress

Parents & Friends, Mr. Richmer called this morning to give us the news that the IHSAA has ruled our next game versus Evansville Reitz will be played in Evansville. An IHSAA commissioner was at the game and he commended our efforts at hosting a sectional game. He complimented our staff, our fans, and our school. While everything went as smoothly as it could go last night, the commissioner feels that our facilities are simply not capable of hosting a team with a fan base the size of Evansville Reitz. Obviously, this is a disappointment. We are all coming off the high of winning the first round of sectionals with a home field advantage. We cannot fight the IHSAAs decision (goodness knows, Boonville tried to keep the game on their field!), but I sincerely hope that this decision makes everyone aware that our program is not keeping up with the 4A schools against whom we are meant to compete. I have spoken to Monty Schneider personally and he says that there are NO plans in place for improvements to our field, lockers, concessions, etc.... The school board has approved a feasibility study to expand classrooms within SCHS, but even after that study is completed (a six month process) and building is approved, the needs of the athletic department might be added on as a secondary consideration. There are several parents planning to attend school board meetings (getting on the agenda) and pleading a case to have a five year plan put into place for the school. Not just to the benefit of the football team, but for the benefit of all. I know many of you made phone calls to the school board and the IHSAA demanding the first sectional game be played at Silver Creek as drawn. Lets bring that force together and fight for our program! Dragons Unite! Laura
