Parents Want a Say, a parents’ campaigning organisation, is committed to overturning the changes. It said: “The cost of a family holiday during the school holidays is an expense many working families simply can’t afford. The responsibility of making decisions about our children should be put back in the hands of the parent.” We have always stayed away from the cost issue. Even though we know its an issue, this is a human right issue, the government is interfering with family life on this. But the papers insist on making this nothing but cost issue. This policy is not fit for purpose with the unfairness it causes. But we really do have a fight on our hands here because all they will look at is the figures.
