Park Announces Delayed Opening for Visitor Centers and Park Headquarters Officials at Great Smoky Mountains National Park announced that Sugarlands Visitor Center, Oconaluftee Visitor Center, and Park Headquarters will have a delayed opening tomorrow morning, January 29, due to inclement weather. Visitor centers and administrative offices will open at 10:00 a.m. The United States Mint launch event for the Tennessee quarter featuring Great Smoky Mountains National Park is still scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. at Mills Auditorium in the Gatlinburg Convention Center in Gatlinburg, TN. If overnight weather conditions warrant delaying the event, an update will be provided by 8:00 a.m. tomorrow. All park employees essential for snow removal operations and law enforcement staff should report to duty as regularly scheduled. All other employees should report for duty at 10:00 a.m. or take appropriate leave.
