Parklands Gardener Navigate your future We are a significant employer in the Central Queensland region with more than 670 people working across three port precincts, Gladstone, Port Alma and Bundaberg. Our workforce is expected to grow to over 1000 by 2015, as we facilitate development of new port-based industry and commence management of operations at the Wiggins Island Coal Export Terminal (WICET). This growth and infrastructure development will see the Port of Gladstone become the most signifi cant industrial port precinct in Australia. We invite you to join us on this journey. We are seeking applications from suitably experienced and qualified candidates for the permanent position of Parklands Gardener. This position is responsible for providing a high standard of parkland maintenance and presentation for the enjoyment of Gladstone’s community, visitors and for the enhancement of the Corporations public image. Key responsibilities will include: Maintain GPC Parklands and Port lands, including but not limited to: General cleaning of parkland and facilities Ensuring maintenance of parklands to standard Mowing parklands Developing a continuous improvement approach towards maintenance standards Identify and control of weeds, pest and diseases Maintaining and trouble shooting irrigation systems Compliance with all occupational health, safety and environmental requirements Comply with and lead by example GPC’s values and behaviours Candidates must address the following key selection criteria: Plant husbandry practices and procedures Social influencing Problem solving Achieving results Reporting to the Parks & Recreation Manager, the successful candidate will have as minimum requirement a Certificate II Horticulture or the equivalent of experience in park maintenance. Some attributes that would be highly advantageous include landscaping and irrigation maintenance experience, ACDC licence, medium rigid truck licence, front end loader licence and/or certification and skid steer licence and/or certification. A manual driver’s licence is considered a mandatory requirement for this role.
