Thanks for any help you can give. Sincerely, Stuart Cabler, 22 January 2014. Dear parole board staff: Regarding the upcoming parole review for David Lawrence Companie, TDCJ ID: 01721819, I ask that you deny this parole. As a law-abiding citizen of these United States, I find it completely unacceptable that the vicious, cowardly, and brutal murder of Kelly Kimberly Cabler might only be punished by 4 or so years in prison, while her loved ones endure a life sentence of grief. Kimberlys voice has been silenced forever, so I will be that voice for her now. Free to resume his deleterious campaign of destuction on our society, Mr. Companie would once again leave a path of misery in his wake. Please keep this violent, remorseless criminal in prison to serve out his full sentence. Sincerely, In the interest of brevity for those whove been along for this ride since the beginning, Ive kept the above concise and to the point, and there is nothing new to you in the following paragraphs, so feel free to skip them. For any newcomers to the fray, or for anyone who wanted a refresher, there is the following background info. As most of you are aware, my wife Kimberly was brutally murdered on May 13, 2010, crushed to death on the street in front of our home by an enraged, drunken sociopath, David L. Companie. I spent her last minutes alive on this earth with her, rendering aid, comforting her, and pleading with her to hang on while we waited for help, but to no avail, and she died in the E.R., having suffered horribly for over an hour. Her back had been broken in two places, and all of her ribs crushed and splintered, which in turn lacerated and ruptured most of her internal organs and collapsed her lungs. After he did this, Mr. Companie fled and went to a bar for a drink, with no more concern than if hed run over a stray animal. Moments prior to running her over with his SUV, Mr. Companie had struck her violently in the face with a tire iron. These actions were committed with malice aforethought, and were subsequent to death threats he had made against her (and myself) in previous days, and I had filed a police report to this effect the day before she was killed. Our county district attorney, ignoring evidence to the contrary, decided there was an absence of pre-meditation and charged him with voluntary manslaughter, rather than murder. An additional felony charge of failure to stop and render aid was later dismissed. The sentencing range for voluntary manslaughter in Texas is 2-20 years. Companie was offered a sentence of 12 years, and accepted. Initially, I was led to believe that he would have to serve a mandatory 6 years before parole consideration because of the notation on his paperwork of deadly weapon used during the commission of said crime, and we all know that an auto is considered a deadly weapon under such circumstances. However, on March 24th of 2012, I discovered to my horror that he was up for parole, a scant year and 11 months after he killed Kimberly. This was because the deadly weapon notation on his paperwork had been a clerical error, and that that had been given away as part of a sweetheart deal that the D.A. had made with him, and the error had been corrected on March 13th of 2012. Legally, all that has gone before can not be undone, which leads me to now and this post. As many local Wimberley residents knew, David Companie is a violent, arrogant sociopath. He has a long history of abusive behavior towards women; in fact, at the time of Kimberlys death he had an assault charge pending against him in the brutal beating/robbery of his former girlfriend, along with a second DUI also pending, and a third DUI he would have gotten a week after the 2nd, had he not escaped from the hospital after a wreck he caused before blood could be drawn. Mr. Companie has a long history of breaking the law and escaping punishment by the skin of his teeth; often, I understand, by witness intimidation, and was thoroughly despised by all who knew him. He is a sociopathic liar, and has neither remorse nor contrition for his actions. Indeed, at his sentencing, his attitude seemed to be, Whats all the fuss about?, and appeared irritated, annoyed, and put out by being inconvenienced. I, as a general rule, do not ask anyone to share or copy and paste any of my posts, or write letters, but if any of you have the inclination and time to help in this matter, it would be enormously appreciated, as it was last year. Even if you did not personally know Companie, Kimberly, or myself, it might behoove you to speak out against such a travesty of justice to the parole board. This is not a person we want released back into our society, especially after serving only 4 years for this brutal murder. I am told by Victims Services, TDCJ, that these emails can make a huge difference in the parole review boards findings, and they certainly seemed to last year when so many of you helped me with this. If you have the time and inclination to write a personal email to the parole board, so much the better. But if not, hopefully youll copy and paste into an email the short letter at the bottom of this post, and send it to the email address provided. Shares are also very, very much encouraged. Last year, I received several private messages from a few local Wimberley people who had had some horrific dealings with this nutcase, but were still so intimidated by him from all of the threats that hed made, that they were afraid to come forward to write an email to the parole board. Let me assure you that the Victim Services Division of the TDCJ has assured me that all letters are completely confidential and cannot be viewed by or quoted to the criminal or his attorneys or anyone else, including myself, but even letters that are sent anonymously will be read and considered. Feel free to leave your name off of any correspondence if that would make the difference between you sending one or not. Unfortunately, the clock is ticking, and any emails sent after the 6th of this month of February 2014, may not be considered by the parole board.
