Parque Guell Pt. 2 These first two photos look down at the two buildings flanking the main entrance to the park. The third photo illustrates the roadways and paths around the park to service the houses were designed by Gaudi as structures jutting out from the steep hillside or running on viaducts , with separate footpaths in arcades formed under these structures. This is one of those footpaths. It reminds me of being on a surfboard in a pipeline wave, curved and ready to crash down. Gaudi designed these using local stone that integrates them closely into the landscape. His structures echo natural forms, with columns like tree trunks supporting branching vaulting under the roadway, and curves of vaulting and alignment of sloping columns.
