Part 16. We go to 1 Kings 18 verse 16, looking for The Sacrifice. So Obadiah went to meet Ahab, and told him: and Ahab went to meet Elijah. And it came to pass, as Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, Art thou he that troubleth Israel. Ahab goes directly up to the attack, and speaks of an accusation against Elijah. Thereby, is Ahab, not the only one, we had seen this already, of Saul. Saul also named David, (darling) a lie in wait. So it comes to know here that Israel accuses his Messiah of dishonest behavior. The pronunciation of Saul herein is most clearly: lay in wait, or a trap dug by David for him. Romans 11 verse 11: The difference of opinion about what has happened to Israel, comes forward here, obviously, but they have been taken into account. The Lord Jesus gives an explanation, to it, in Luke 21. In his speech, about the last things, what is going to happen, Jesus focuses on the phrase: For my names sake, verse 12, something very important, verse 13, And it shall turn to you for a testimony . The quarrel between the Messiah and his people settled by the presence of the municipality . In 2 Kings 3 verse 11, is portrayed that, figuratively, Jehoshaphat (= J is Judge) said , Is there not here a prophet of the Lord , that we may enquire of the Lord by him ? And one of the king of Israels servants answered and said , Her is Elisha , the son of Shaphat , (= Judge is , J) , which poured water on the hands of Elijah . In other words, that had found passage, the work of Jesus Christ, the church, pleaded free him from this accusation, voiced by the Jewish people. We all know well the example written by Pilate, I was my hands in innocence. We have seen that already had testified at the king, Gehazi, of all the things that he had noticed, and had sung the praises of the Son, Verse 20, in 1 Kings 18 . So Ahab sent unto all the children of Israel , and gathered the prophets together unto mount Carmel . In the previous verse, tells us who and what were the 450 prophets of Israel, 400 prophets of Jezebel, a remarkable difference of 50 men, but, well recognizable numbers. We have had them faced earlier, at least, the number four hundred, we already saw, that David then had given the shewbread, to everyone (people with a creditor), 1 Samuel 21 verse 6. He (David) was surrounded by four hundred men, when the priesthood was eradicated from their midst. We can trace this number later, on the basis of the time, which is now behind us, like an Old Testament number, indicating that when the Messiah would be hung on the cross, are also the prophets of Jezebel (= untouched), the times of the Gentiles without God, or, the, one killer on the cross. Completely different, it is with Israel, which had 50 men more, and that is exactly half of the number of prophets who had hidden, Obadiah, and gradually, we come to the crux of the matter, the time in which be seen, the importance of this sacrifice. The times of the Gentiles, without God, it is suggested, on the cross, as a divided time, the four piles of clothes, (John 19 verse 23), and Israel, with his prophetic word that was not broken, while Elijah, who do not build a new altar, but is working to restore the altar of Israel, as it teaches us, 1 Kings 18 verse 30. Heres already looked forward to the sacrifice that will be brought on Calvary, but even more, to the time that would follow after, portrayed us in different things. 1 Kings 18 verse 21 , And Elijah came unto all the people , and said , How long halt ye between two opinions ? if the Lord be God , follow him : but if Baal , then follow him . And the people answered him not a word . Tomorrow part 17 .
