Part 3 of 3: Your passion is what will keep you going when things get rough. Clearly the passion and love for the environment of Commodore Gerry Reyes, the founder and the national coordinator for the International Coastal Cleanup Philippines, greatly shows in what he has accomplished for ICC Philippines. Mr. Zed Avecilla, Director of The Lighthouse Marina Resort Legacy Foundation, has taken over the reins in the last three years after Mr. Argee Gomez, Marketing Manager of the Ayala Harbor Point Mall has launched the ICC a couple of years earlier (2009) while the General Manager of the Lighthouse Marina Resort back then. Ever since TLMR has decided to spearhead the ICC in its small shoreline more than 5 years ago, both Argee and Zed has never formally met Mr. Gerry Reyes. This year, their paths has finally crossed. The convergence of these three people has led the way to the once of the most successful and most meaningful movement in this region. The ICC has always been more than just another coastal cleanup. Its about coming together to celebrate and recognise those who love the environment. Its about increasing levels of awareness and win the battle to change peoples minds and hearts. Its showing that as long as there are people who will dare to make a change, there will always be hope. If we put passion and love in whatever it is that we do, it will flourish. Let us go back to basics and be the change we want in this world. As the dust settled after the summit, the question remained, “What now?”. The change starts here.
