Part 5 Blacks in Memphis Live Like Slaves We Need Reparation In 1999 The Federal Government paid 82,210 Japanese Americans $20,000.00 per person in Reparation for putting their forefathers in Internment Camps during World War II. The Federal Government also paid 181 Japanese living in Latin America $5,000.00 as part of the same settlement. In recent months we have heard talk of North Carolina plans to offer $50,000.00 in Reparation to women like Elaine Riddick who were sterilized during the ’60 and ‘70s. During the month of March there was talk of paying Reparation to Robert "Rider" Dewey a white man who was locked up in Prison for 16 years for a crime he did not commit. A female legislator suggested paying persons like Robert Dewey $50,000.00 per year for each year spent in Jail.
