Part Three. Sodium Laureth/Lauryl Sulphate or SLS as they put - TopicsExpress

Part Three. Sodium Laureth/Lauryl Sulphate or SLS as they put on the bottle is a chemical foaming agent used in industry for, amongst other things, cleaning oil from garage floors. Industry experts will try to reassure you that the quantities that are used pose no danger to your health. My argument on this is when I shampoo my hair or use my regular shower Gel once, there may be no hazard to my health, but I shower daily and wash my hair the same. If this stuff is in the product I am using, whether on my skin or hair, how does it affect the oils in my hair and on my skin? We are all sold on the lovely feeling of warm soapy water all foamy and nice whether a shower or a bath. I used to bathe my child in his Mr Matey, and if I knew then what I know now, I would have given him a better chance to start his life. I know some of you read Jayne Mays wonderful insight into Hopes illnesses and we all wish her the best with him. Jayne, like the rest of us does not fully understand how these gene deformities are presented. However, if I am right in my assumptions, my son may have been affected by the chemicals in his early life, and any gene manipulation will be passed on when he has children. Makes for interesting thinking, there has to be something in it. So, to conclude this passage, why do they do it? The answer is simple and its one word ‘PROFIT’ these chemicals are cheap and do the job of the once used, but more expensive, natural foaming agents and preservatives. It is, without doubt, so much cheaper to make and market than to do it the way our mothers did it. All the information is on the bottle, but how many actually know what they do and where they come from? When the shop was in existence, people would ask me why I did not put prices in the windows. The answer is simple really; if you see a 200ml bottle of, say, shampoo on sale at £9.50 it would be natural to pass by knowing Tesco has a bottle of 500ml at half the price! Come into the shop and tell me it’s too expensive and I was able to inform customer of the difference. This was born out by the awareness of a few customers who bought nothing else and cooed about it ever since. They will see this post and hopefully we will hear from them.
