Part of Kari McFadden and Paula Young Benson great adventure: TILLAMOOK, Ore. – Last night, Thursday Jan. 15, several drivers on Highway 6 encountered a number of detached motor vehicle bumpers scattered on the roadway between mileposts 23 and 29. The Oregon Department of Transportation briefly closed the highway to investigate reports of the obstacles, according to Lou Torres, ODOT Region 2 public information officer. ODOT reopened the highway about 8:30 p.m., he added. “There were about 17 or 18 beat-up, plastic vehicle bumpers that were dumped on Oregon 6,” Torres told the Pioneer. “When an ODOT crew got out there, there was no one there to claim them. So we piled them on the side of the road until we were able to pick them up this morning. They are currently in our Tillamook maintenance yard. Still, no one has claimed them and we do not know who they belong to.” While Tillamook Dispatch received more than 30 calls regarding the bumpers, “None of the calls we responded to involved other vehicles being damaged,” said Sgt. Greg Plummer of the Oregon State Police Tillamook office. “At this point we do not know where the bumpers came from.”
