Particularly relevant to the Lithgow region where power stations - TopicsExpress

Particularly relevant to the Lithgow region where power stations are the single biggest water user (Mount Piper 15.6 GL/year; Wallerawang 10 GL/year). During the worst of the 2007 drought, generation at Wallerawang was partly curtailed because of the high salt content of Coxs River water and unavailability of suitable quantities from the Fish River for dilution. The folly of Carbon capture and storage (CCS) will make them one-quarter to one-third more water intensive.
