Parts of west Bowral (towards Centennial Road) and north east of Mittagong are currently experiencing loss of mains water supply. The loss of supply is due to a break in the 450mm trunk main which supplies the towns. Council staff are still trying to locate and isolate the break which has occurred along a 25 kilometre section of pipe work which in many parts traverses bushland. The extreme wet weather and high volume of groundwater is making detection difficult but it is believed that the break has occurred due to ground slippage caused from the rainfall. Once located, it is estimated the fault will take some six hours to repair. A limited supply of bottled water is available. Residents requiring assistance are advised to contact Council’s 24 hour Call Centre on phone 4868 0888. Emergency Services requiring water supplies can access the mains supply via the Gib North reservoir and at Oxley Drive in Bowral (adjacent to the Bowral Swimming Pool).
