Party of the Independent Candidate of Kenya (PICK) candidate John Harun #Mwau has hinted that he may challenge the #Makueni senate by-election in court, terming the process as flawed. Speaking after casting his vote at Tangu Primary School in #Kilome constituency, Mwau claimed that the decision to paste #Mutula Kilonzo Jnr’s details on the ballot had given him advantage over the other candidates as the pasted information was very conspicuous. “IEBC is colluding with certain candidates to rig the elections in their favour. The sticker on one candidate (Junior) is so conspicuous that it is giving him undue advantage over the rest of us. It is catching to the electorate,” claimed Mwau, who had also petitioned the election of the late Mutula after the March 4 general Election. He added: “From the beginning the process has emerged as a flawed exercise and IEBC should be surcharged for the many anomalies in this by- election”. Meanwhile voting process began on time in most polling stations in the vast Makueni County. The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) expedited the process of distributing election materials to ensure that voting kicked off in many stations at 6am, as had been scheduled. No major incidents were initially reported, with low turn-out, as is characteristic of by-elections locally, being witnessed in the early hours of the process Jubilee’s Philip #Kaloki also cast his ballot at #Ngwata Polytechnic in #Kibwezi East Constituency,while Cord Coalition’s Mutula Jnr casted his vote at Umaa Primary School in #Mbooni Constituency. The delay in arrival of ballot papers in some constituency polling centres was occasioned by the process of pasting Mutula Jnr’s details on the ballot.
