Passing a bill to keep our government running isn’t a game and should not be this controversial; it’s time for this Congress to get it done. I was sent here to partner with folks who were willing to work to get results for my Hudson Valley neighbors, and last night, I did everything I could to prevent a shutdown. I voted to ensure that Members of Congress and their staff receive no federal contributions to cover their healthcare costs under Obamacare. Families and businesses in the Hudson Valley are not getting special subsidies from Obamacare and neither should Members of Congress or the White House. We cannot gamble with the lives and livelihoods of hardworking Americans, and I will continue to work to avert this manufactured crisis and protect senior’s Social Security claims, small businesses, veteran’s benefits, and homeowners.
