Passion And Fruit : Plants can respond to electrical - TopicsExpress

Passion And Fruit : Plants can respond to electrical impulses for sure. But saying plants feel pain and can suffer is a bit like saying a robot that can that respond to electrical impulses can also experience pain and suffering. A robot may be programmed to quickly to jump away from hot substances.. but does this mean that the robot felt pain? or does that mean the robot is just responding to stimulus for its best survival? Even if plants had their own version of a nervous system.. without an area of the brain to interpret those signals, there will never be pain. Plants are not robots by any means. They are living beings. But they are not sentient beings like that of animals. The many proponents that support animal suffering will tell a vegan that plants feel pain, but this is a far cry from the truth and is only an argument that diverts attention away from their own cognitive dissonance. Plants feeling pain is not scientifically conclusive, nor is it rational. Please, if you argue with a vegan, do not use the plants feel pain argument. It is laughed at and only displays a lack of ability to think soundly.
