Pastor Eddie Dela Torre has been in the ministry since 1968. He was my classmate and worked together as staff in our old church under my father. We are very close friends along with Pastor Abe Vallega and Pastor Eddie Porto. Recently, he was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. He was admitted in Cebu hospital but apparently the doctors there didnt do anything. Pastor RA sent them money to come to Manila, he called me up and we prepared our prophets chamber for them, his wife Grace and Barnaby another preacher,his son. Dr. Joy Janobas checked him up and later he was admitted at the Medical Center, Manila. Dr. Ocampo, another friend opened him up but when he saw that cancer cells have already spread out in his abdomen, he just drained it with 5 liters of water and closed it up. I convinced him to stay in Manila so Dr. Garcia, an oncologist another friend could see him for a possible chemotherapy. Let us pray for him, he wants to live for more years for the ministry. I decided that this will be another important ministry that the MBBC has…giving refuge for veteran pastors and pastors afflicted with fatal diseases, just like what we did to Pastor Jether Jimena who is now in glory. We will be raising money for that. Let us do something for men of God who dont have any insurance at all or any capacity to spend for their medical needs. This is also an opportune time to call on our churches to take good care of their pastors..remember they are Gods gift to the church. You take good care of your pastor, God takes good care of you.
