Pastor Mikes Daily Devotion Saturday August 16, 2014 1 Corinthians 11:1, Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ. As Christians we are to be effectively influencing others to godliness. Are there people in your life who you are spiritually inspiring to have a godly identification? As Paul is writing to the church in Greece they would be very familiar with images that the people would identify with. In the bible there are two types of images in which a person may identify with. The first is an unacceptable identification as we attempt to mold God into our own image. Then there is the acceptable which is God molding you into the image of Christ. When the lives of the Apostles Peter and John were examined, those looking realized that they had been with Jesus. Another word for imitate would be mimic. In our resource room here at the church we had a mimeograph machine. You put a master in one slot, then turn up the speed and it cranks out copy after copy. Biblical imitation is righteousness repeated; we have Jesus Christ as the example of perfection and are to seek to live our lives with Him as the example. As we do this we in turn are an example to others. If you want to know how you are doing in this repetitive process look at those closest to you, are they imitating you, do you see Christ in them? 3 John 11, Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. He who does good is of God, but he who does evil has not seen God.
