Pastor Mikes Daily Devotion Sunday July 20, 2014 Romans 6:10–11, For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. What is it that keeps people from the kingdom of heaven? It is either the amount of or the degree of past or current sins might be your response. Believers who have entered into the Christian life may have doubts because of past behavior. Look at it this way; make a list of the top twenty five sins you ever committed. Rank them from the very worst to the not so bad. Then look at that list and know that not one of those sins is going to send you to hell. Even if you made a list that included every sin you ever committed, the sum of them would not send you to hell. What sin does is confirm the nature of the offender. It is because of this sinful nature that we are separated from a relationship with God. What is it that validates the sinful nature of all mankind: death. Looking back to the beginning it was Adam that set the pattern in that through his sin, a sinful nature was revealed. It is that sinful nature that has been passed down throughout the generations. Then came Christ the one who was not like any other in that He had no sinful nature and thus did not sin. So because of this, we who are born with Adams nature are destine to die and be eternally separated from God. Those who have been born again with the nature of Christ imputed or assigned to them, although they will die, they will have everlasting life in heaven with God. John 11:25, Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
